CURD RICE WITH OKRA FRY | COMFORT FOOD RECIPES | QUICK DINNER RECIPE | QUICK LUNCH RECIPE

WHAT IS A COMFORT FOOD?

Foods that bring psychological satisfaction and comfort are referred to as comfort foods. Eating them can also give one a sense of solace or well-being.

My list of comfort foods is very selective and limited, and I don’t mind eating them every other day. Being a South Indian, I have always cherished our traditional recipes. It is not only my favourite but has also become a satisfaction for my daughter and my husband.

Here in this article…

I have shared one of my comfort food recipes, which is ‘MOR SAATHAM WITH VENDAKKA PORIYAL’ meaning CURD RICE WITH OKRA FRY.
There is not much to say about this recipe, so I am going to keep the explanation super short. Just refer to the ingredients under the ingredients section.

Methods to prepare this thali:

Step 1 :

We need some cooked rice. Very fine-grained, premium raw rice is my preference. One part rice to two and a quarter parts water is how much I get the rice cooked—not too much, just enough. A little mushy texture is necessary for rice to go with rasam and curd because it is what gives the entire dish its main taste sensation and makes you want to eat more. The texture of rice can be seen in the image below, which I am attempting to describe. It is better to prefer rice cooker or pressure cooker for preparing rice for this dish.

Step 2 :

Put some fresh curd in a mixing bowl. Beat it well with the whisk. Add oil to a heated kadai, then add curry leaves, grated carrot, dry red chili, and mustard seeds to splutter. Make sure none of the ingredients burn. Giving tadka just takes a little over a minute. This tadka needs a small amount of water. Gently transfer the curd mixture to the kadai after a few seconds of waiting. For a flowing consistency, add a small amount of water. That’s all. Tempered curd is ready to serve.

Step 3 :

Okra fry may appear to be a common dish, but the method we must use ensures that the dish is completely balanced. Wash and pat dry some fresh okra before cutting it into small pieces. So it becomes crispy as we toss it around the pan. Heat oil in a large pan, add garlic cloves, curry leaves, green chili, onions, and fry until golden brown. Add okra and fry in high heat for the first couple of minutes, tossing frequently. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook until done. While the okra is still sticky, add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Sprinkle some sugar on top. ready to serve.

Some times i add some home made fryums along with this platter and also some mango pickle. people of any age group will love to eat this and it keeps our health sound and fit too. Food is frequently a major component of our progressive day. I am sure my daughter will have amazing comfort food collection from her childhood memories.

Its a simple platter yet soul fulfilling be you from any part of the world, if ever you give this a try then do let me know on the comment section below.
