Is Homeschooling a Threat to Public schools?
Absolutely not. In India, there are numerous other countries where parents struggle to afford basic education for their children. Enrolling a child in a school with reasonable infrastructure, due to the competitive fees charged by so-called educational institutions, has become a significant challenge for parents in the LIG or MIG categories. The management often lacks quality, and the criteria for hiring teachers are questionable.
While the government offers educational opportunities, the services provided under its name are rife with corruption, leading parents to believe they are giving their children an education, when in fact, the children endure considerable hardship. What children truly desire is a joyful school experience where they can thrive and learn without unnecessary pressure. In such circumstances, there is no issue with parents opting to provide a solid foundational education during their early years.
Over time, every child discovers their passion, and our role as parents is to support and guide them along the right path to the best of our abilities. ‘If public schooling functioned as they assert, homeschooling would not pose a threat.’
Lack of safety, bullying and partiality do still exist post pandemic lockdown. Things have’nt changed over the years. Homeschooling can help children avoid negative peer pressure. The pandemic has led to a greater emphasis on remote learning and has made parents more open to homeschooling as a viable alternative. Happy childhood is lost due to many factors.

Do Homeschooling Parent end up abusing the children in terms of harshness?
In a country like India, parents have a special way of raising their children, and this practice has evolved due to the societal pressure and cultural differences. So parents’ way of talking itself is harsh, where they claim to be the love language. God knows, we cannot comment on it. But what I felt over the time is that children are very soft and loving in nature. That’s how we saw them when they were born, right? Why do we have to put all those demanding pressures on them at this very early age of life? The time we took to see a computer keyboard is the time they are handling an iPad like a pro. Instead of pointing out the fact that they are addicted to this device, aren’t we the ones to blame who brought that thing inside our house? Every story has two sides, positive and negative. It’s our duty to guide the right and wrong path. For the rest, we leave it to God. So I believe there is nothing in this world that LOVE cannot conquer. A little bit of strict talk is ok. But raising hands on kids, punishing them, is a strict no. We as parents must explain with patience & love, and children will understand it with time.
Parents or caregiver have to keep high level of patience while raising the child until a certain age. While educating them at home it becomes peer pressure to have faith and continue doing what we need to do. so we need to have a calm mindset first so we can help the child in their learning process. “Whatever we give our child, we definitely recieve it into 10 times more be it love or hate”.

Will Homeschoolers will find trouble with admission into college?
I and my husband both have earned degrees from reputed colleges across the country. I believe in organic learning and holistic development that is true to its sense. Initially, my husband did not understand the concept of informal learning. But with time and effort, I was able to explain it to him. It was no easy job for me either. To make him understand, it took away half of my life. But life has to keep going, right? And as a mother, you understand your child better & have to do what suits their health best.
From playgroup till grade 12 is a continuous effort of 16 years. If the child shows early signs of Intelligence and talent and hardworking qualities, then one can think about providing informal learning to them. Either the parent takes care of it, or they can appoint a tutor. In my case, I teach my daughter everything currently. Since she is at the pre-primary level, I spend 1 hour of academic education and 1 hour of art dedicatedly to her. So when compared with others, we saw we were progressing at a much faster level with ease. because my motive was to keep learning stress-free and this helps us grasp things quickly.
There is no such thing as the best university in the world. There is nothing bigger than the support a child can receive from their parents for their progress in life. Even if we were in the best university there is no guarantee for future.
We cannot expect children to be too competitive. Let them be innocent. Let them enjoy their childhood days without unnecessary burdens. There are people taking admission into IIT, MIT, OXFORD, CAMBRIDGE, HARVARD, PRINCETON, YALE, etc. etc. etc. Almost every university has had one such case where people without any formal schooling have secured seats to pursue higher education.
An overall talented individual is welcomed into more universities, where in this generation the opportunities are being kept open depending on their entrance examination and how talented they are. Now, TALENT is something that the schools are killing or making more stressful, where the kids forget how to be confident about themselves.
Talent doesn’t mean being competitive; it means enjoying and feeling secure about yourself. This is something my daughter made me realize. How many of us are still applying all those formulas and equation and theorems we learned in our school days to real life? What we learn in college remains helpful only till professional life.
And if you don’t find a happy boss or if you don’t find yourself fitting into the business market, then what’s the point in so much struggle? In between all these, we got to be physically healthy, mentally healthy, have faith, have patience, have hope, have high enduring capacity, and feel gratitude. These are going to make someone live a successful life. And being a female born into Indian family, facing and overcoming the societal pressure itself is no less than a war.
We wish our daughter a healthy, happy and, of course, prosperous life. With me and my husband both being available for her through her thick and thin times is all that matters to me. to lead a life with self confidence is the most important part to live any type of life. So the initial thought of how the future is going to be makes anyone decide about home education for their kids. And it is an individual decision. We cannot blame or compare anyone for anything, as every homeschooling is different and is an initiative where the mother and father can only decide how they can provide for their children’s needs for growth. So homeschooling is equally challenging when appropriate measures are taken.

Should Homeschooling Parent be qualified?

Although its much beneficial if the parents are well qualified but it is Not necessarily true that only qualified parents can teach. If we are confident that the knowledge that we are going to lecture them on is 100% accurate, then we can pass it down. Otherwise we can take help from online resources, books and other modes of education. You can ask for help from your trusted friends who are cooperative and show interest in teaching them the things they need to learn.
One can also appoint qualified tutors if their budget is suitable. Although it depends from person to person about what quality of knowledge is shared with the child, we can exactly not comment what is perfect or not.
Homeschooling involves more than just teaching from textbooks. The fundamental life skills are crucial. In informal education, ACADEMICS, SURVIVAL SKILLS, and INTERESTS go hand in hand. Every parent needs to find out what all the child is interested in and start things from there slowly; one step at a time is the only path to progress.
The world is round, isn’t it? Whatever you do or wherever you start, either you will end up at the point at which you started or land at a place unexpected. When we provide informal education to children, we are also learning from them things that you never got to know from your teachers, parents or other elderly people. Trust the process.

Do Homeschoolers turn out to be boring people with no talent?

Children are children. Why expect a whale to climb a tree when his qualities are great at swimming and preserving ocean life? All children are talented in some or the other way. If they can do their basic routine on their own, then we need not have to worry much. Our daughter is an avid artist and loves being creative.
The moment she found inspiration, she wouldn’t settle without cracking it. In fact, if we allow them to use their freedom wisely, they will be highly progressive in learning.
At the level of pre-primary education or up until secondary education, we cannot debate their future for talent or boredom. Let us focus on our responsibility while simultaneously ensuring that they are also progressing. There are youths who have completed there schooling much before the timeline. so you never know actually what is coming.

Will Homeschoolers become used to being in comfort zone?

Its ok for kids to be in their comfort zone as long as they are not stagnant. It takes time for kids to understand this and be patient with them.
We may have come across the famous saying ‘Get out of your comfort zone to be successful.’ This can be applied to a responsible grown-up who has unavoidable responsibilities. Children are not meant to fall under the category of ‘corporate kids.’ And if we expect them to be so, then we must also be sure about the aftermath and drawbacks of such a life. Children may be naughty and aggressive at times, and it is all because of the pressure of society and lack of support and understanding from parents.
Children’s lives become enslaved and imprisoned lives if we as parents fail to understand them or do the needful for them. The term ‘comfort zone is not applicable for small children at all, according to me. at least till the age of 13. There is nothing wrong with giving them the time to experiment and explore and engage with life at their own pace.
Comfort zone is a term that can be imposed to adult who have not much time to experiment and have to keep up with competition. There are so many popular faces who found success nearly after the age 40. That does’nt mean they stayed in comfort zone. Its sometimes your hardwork and progress in silence that makes a louder existence.
Call it destiny, lazy, competitive, hardworking, talented, luck or whatever a person with ambitious soul will always find their way.
If a child shows no interest in traditional schooling and is still keeping ahead in terms of learning and grasping then there is nothing much to worry about comfort zones. No matter what ‘learning is a life long process’ and one must be adaptive to pick up learning with ease at any given phase of life.

At the end, every adult is going to be responsible for things that
they are not going to be prepared for.

- Are Homeschooling children socialized?

“CHILDREN GETTING SOCIALIZED AT SCHOOL IS A MYTH.” The initial socialization starts from home. With immediate relatives and friends and neighbors. no school in this world gives you same exposure. Being close to nature is where the actual understanding of socialization begins. Living in harmony with nature and mother earth is where socialization gives you a deeper understanding. Nowadays socialization is not like the 80s or 90s. 2-year-old kids show signs of bullying and aggression, which poses a threat to children of higher age groups. Kids are prone to dangers of internet exposure and other stuff when left unmonitored among other kids.
Socialization changes according to the time and demand; one must be adaptive and wise to the growing challenges of society. My daughter was 1.5 years old when the COVID-19 pandemic hit India, and everywhere there was lockdown and curfew until she was 4 years old.
None of the schools were working offline until my daughter turned 5. So here, in our case, she had completely lost the essence of socialization. We all, grown-ups too, lost it irrespective of age groups. socialization happens with people of all age groups and not particularly with kids of same age group.

The time when my kid should have started playing to learn in a fun way was all lost. When we put her in school directly, it was all late. According to the child, that was the first exposure, but according to society and school development, they started putting immense pressure on our kids. I wasn’t OK with the system, there was’nt a breathing space given to kids. Teachers being nerds in the school we took her admission, blindly following protocol calling it they are obliged to. What is the meaning of TEACHER then? I myself served as a guest lecturer to Mumbai University, where students of the age 18+ & 20+ appreciated me for bringing change towards teaching them about our Industry.
Yet we gave our best to see what this schooling system claims. There is no school that I was looking for that caters to our child’s needs. My daughter excelled in all the challenges that were put forth in front of her during her physical schooling days. I was all alone with my daughter’s demanding school and my work timeline. It felt that my child was suffering between us (me and my husband) and the education system.
Socialization should not be a strategy. It must evolve with time. And it applies to grown-ups as well. Are we able to gel with the change of a new city and new people instantly? It takes us time! We can be patient because by this time we are wise and backed up. self-dependent, self-reliant, support from various sectors. Kids feel amid ambush against this crowd. Poor kids, for them it’s a no man’s land, a war field amid strangers where they feel lost and lose their basic qualities for a quality living.
Homeschoolers must be exposed to maximum traveling. traveling teaches much more than that what a confined space can promote in children’s journey of socialization. We make trips almost every month. my daughter never hesistates to meet new people and engage in conversation. She has this great sense of understanding in response to strangers she can believe to respond or not which obviously she gets it from me.
