Family Dining in Palolem Beach: Best Restaurants for Kids & Parents

Where is Palolem?

It is a place in Goa that is close to Karnataka and the last place in South Goa. South Goa is always preferred by families who are looking for a calm ambience without compromising on the entertainment as well.

We had an awesome and a bit long vacation in Goa post-lockdown. It will be one of the unforgettable memories for us, as we really had a great family time together.

Tips to make travel easy with a child on board:

Being young parents and also an enthusiastic couple, we always have concerns with our daughter while traveling. She is getting adapted to all the changes around her pretty quickly. But at times she cannot keep up with the new challenges of being a very young traveler. So while choosing resorts this time, we preferred a peaceful atmosphere, calm waters, good food availability, a silent disco and admirable wildlife.

I am a person gifted with a good sense of smell and can ascertain the quality of food in a flash. 😉😄😄
As such, when it comes to food—nutrition, freshness, taste, quality, and hygiene—are all things I can hardly compromise on.

Food was of utmost importance because we were staying for a week with a small child. She is very choosy when it comes to meals. I am a person who is very conscious about her daily intake of nutrition. So below mentioned are a few restaurants that we found pretty decent. My husband and I loved having all the food we had here. My daughter was equally happy with the meals. On the whole, it was a good vacation without any sort of trouble for all 3 of us.

How did we manage to visit so many restaurants?

We rented a bike throughout our stay in Palolem, Goa. It was fun riding in and around where we stayed. We got an opportunity to explore almost all the eatery spots close to our reach, which was an advantage of renting a vehicle.

Restaurants – Palolem, Goa

1. Rococo Pelton, Beach restaurant

We stayed in this resort throughout our vacation. Not all food tastes good. Only the continental food (more Italian and American) tastes good here. Also the grilled seafood varieties. Mocktail drinks & alcohol are something you will get during the open hours. The butlers are very very friendly and, without hesitating, serve us as many times as we call them. Very kindhearted guys who would also offer room service with food. A lot of foreigners like Australians, Italians, Brazilian and Africans, stay here for a longer time like more than half a year. So the food served here is in favor of their taste & likings, which also is not bad.

2. Canvas

The ambience is very good. The interiors are pretty rustic and sober, making you feel the sunset and beach. Food is pretty good. Non-veg foods are pretty good in taste. Mocktails are very interesting. Continental food is also very good. Desserts and salads are also interesting and convincing. You can relax here very comfortably, as the seating arrangement is also pretty good. A few top-notch dishes are pasta, pancakes, granola bowls, burgers, and fish grills, which are all a treat to the soul. The price is abit higher side but will not burn your pocket.

3. Nireas—Healthy Haven

As the name suggests, Healthy Haven really serves you good-quality food, thereby taking care of your health. Best quality food. Heaven for people finding vegan in Goa. Staff is too much helpful. Nireas is a cozy cafe serving some delicious and healthy food. Great ambience and a really nice vibe. They have very sweet staff with great service. My daughter enjoyed the mocktail. My husband fell in love with the biryani offered here. I soothed my taste buds with honey chili chicken. If nothing else, just sit down to relax and read a book. Because the street shopping starts right next to Nireas restaurant. The price is slightly high, but the quality and quantity are worth paying for.

4. Carpe Diem Cafe

This cafe offers a good thali range, south indian breakfast and western menus. reasonable price range. There aren’t many options to choose from, but whatever is offered tastes good. The ambience is good. Momos, paratha, and dosa are all a good go. Looking for breakfast or a snack? OR just a meal platter (Thali), then you can visit here. It’s a good bistro overall. Affordable range.

5. Shree Ganesh pure veg Restaurant

This is really not a big restaurant and keeps away from the main road. It falls inside a sub-road and is owned by a Gujarati family. They cook to order, and you get a variety of North Indian and South Indian (breakfast) ranges of food. They don’t make you wait for a long time, and the food tastes good. With no additional flavor-enhancing substitutes added to the dishes. Very much a family-friendly eating spot. Hygienically good, the seating arrangement is not so good, so one would want to finish the food quickly and leave. very affordable.

6. Hotel sai krupa

This also falls on the main road and is run by a Karnataka family. You can only get good breakfast here like Puri-bhaji, Dosa-Idli-sambar-chutney, Egg bhurji pav, Bread omelet, and Tea-coffee. That’s all. Lunch options like chapati, bhaji, rice, and curry are also available. But you can prefer restaurants at that cost. But as the dishes are prepared on order and especially by an elderly woman in the kitchen, it really feels good to mouth and tummy. You will definitely not get disappointed if you go here. It becomes easy with my daughter when I get such options. She had her breakfast pretty well. Also, this is no fancy hotel. Just a few broken chairs and a good table. There are always quite a few people waiting to have their breakfast here. So you would want to eat quickly and leave. very affordable.

7. Cafe Ourem

Cafe Ourem was named as it falls on the road to Ourem. The taste here was OK-OK. Also they offer Chinese, South Indian breakfast, and North Indian meals. We tried Goan authentic chicken curry too. Which I found to be not so tasty yet not worse either. It falls under the average category. None of us enjoyed the meal here, but we filled our starvation. Butter chicken and chapati were better. So prefer only North Indian popular menus that we commonly find across all the restaurants. They are better at it. Price was also standard. This was our first restaurant since we landed in Palolem. We were a bit disappointed with the food.

8. Fisherman’s Local Bar & Restaurant

This is very close to Palolem Beach resorts and Canacona Beach resorts. Lies exactly in the center of both the beaches. Seafood is very good in taste but not purely authentic. You will get good taste if you choose local dishes from the menu. If you are looking for fried rice or biryani here looking at the menu, then trust me, you’ll be surely disappointed.

Lunch and dinner are preferable. Children are friendly as they also serve khichdi and kanji on request. Thali is a good option to satisfy your hunger in case you visit this place. Every day you can find different dishes for thali, as they are similar to home-cooked food. Budget-friendly.

9. Baba’s Little Italy

As the name suggests, they are good at continental foods like pizza and pasta, especially. Seafood like prawns and fish and chicken tastes very good. Available in a variety of flavors. XACUTI (chicken/Fish), CAFREAL I am all for the authentic Goan curry style, which not everyone may find suitable. VINDALO and BALCHAW are all the same but will be too spicy. Mocktails are awesome, especially the blue lagoon. Small restaurant yet inviting. Food is charged at a reasonable price.

10. Bliss bites bar and restaurant

This restaurant is a great place for eating out near the Palolem beach area. Food is tasty and worth the money. We had dinner and lunch at this place during our course of stay at Palolem. We had mixed chapati, chicken and dal, rice, fish fry and mocktails. all of which were good, and the price was not very high. They also serve delicious pizzas. Prompt service and courteous staff will make sure you have a good experience. Veg, non-veg, seafood, continental, and mocktails all taste good here.

There were many restaurants available in Palolem. But believing our instincts, we tried to explore these many restaurants throughout our stay. It was a satisfying journey, and I enjoyed it to its core.
